Driver Killed Another Hurt in I-95 Collision in Prince William County [FREDERICKSBURG, VA]
A tragic crash on Interstate 95 claimed the life of one driver and left another seriously injured Tuesday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 2:39 p.m. on the southbound I-95 Express Lanes near mile marker 151, close to the Route 234/Dumfries Road exit.
Authorities reported that a 2020 Lexus SUV had stopped on the right shoulder when a 2022 Ford F-250 work truck veered off the road and struck the vehicle. The impact forced the Lexus into a guardrail before it ricocheted back into the interstate, coming to a stop in the flow of traffic. Tragically, the driver of the Lexus, identified as 57-year-old Vernon S. Lee, II, of Chester, died at the scene. His passenger, 25-year-old Shannon S. Lee, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Ford F-250, Jeremy S. Kubela, 43, of Fredericksburg, was not injured. However, state police have charged him with reckless driving as the investigation into the crash continues.
