Elder Law

By 2020 over 56 million Americans will be over the age of 65. Elder Law, a field covering estate planning, disability, guardianship and other aging-related issues, is becoming increasingly critical. Attorney John J. “Butch” Davies, III attended the 24th Annual Advanced Elder Law Update Seminar, co-sponsored by the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (VAELA) on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in Richmond, VA. The focus was on new cases, legislation and regulations, Veterans’ Benefits, Third Party Liability (who pays for Mom’s nursing home care?), Fiduciary Guidance for Special Needs Trusts, and Ethics for practicing Elder Law.
