Four Injured in Serious Hit-and-Run Incident on Chatham Bridge [FREDERICKSBURG, VA]

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Four injured in a serious hit-and-run incident involving a 24-year-old Stafford man on Chatham Bridge. The man now faces multiple charges, including felony hit-and-run with personal injuries, following the Saturday afternoon crash, as reported by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 3:29 p.m., Deputy J.E. Cordes responded to the intersection of Chatham Heights Road and Kings Highway after receiving multiple reports of a crash. The initial investigation revealed that while attempting a U-turn on Chatham Bridge, a Jeep Wrangler collided with a Honda Civic. Four occupants of the Honda were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the SCSO report.

Following the collision, the Jeep Wrangler continued toward the wood line, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into the woods. Deputy Cordes inspected the still-running Jeep and discovered purchase paperwork and a cell phone, which led to the identification of the driver as Antonio Mascorro.

A thorough search of the area led deputies to find Mascorro near Naomi Road, where Deputy S.A. Helsley detained him. Mascorro admitted to fleeing the scene because the Jeep was uninsured.

Deputies subsequently arrested Mascorro and charged him with several offenses, including felony hit-and-run with personal injuries, reckless driving, driving while suspended, making an illegal U-turn, having expired registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He is currently held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
